There are different cowls for different chimneys. Most are designed to keep pests out and enhance the draw of the chimney. We will always fit a stainless steel cowl with a strap so that it will last and not blow off in high winds or rot with the salty air. 

A vent cap should be fitted to disused chimneys. These allow the chimneys to breathe without getting damp and prevent birds accessing and building nests.
